The Hartford Group complaint by Nikkimarks
APSCA pet insurance is administered by the Hartford Group. My dog, who is 12 years old, was accepted into the program and I was paying $42 a month. The first time I submitted a claim, they refused everything including routine care and pain medication for her arthritis. Now, they were well aware of her age when they accepted her in the plan, but they consider arthritis a "pre-existing" condition.

Long story short, I cancelled the insurance when I realized they were never going to pay any claims. The promised me a partial refund. After 2 weeks, I contacted them only to be informed that since I filed a claim, they were denying my refund. They denied the whole claim. I never received a dime, but they were using the claim to withold my refund.

I filed a complaint w/the BBB, but didn't get anywhere. I shelled out over $300!

I don't recommend this service to anyone. They will take your money and deny your claims and you'll never see your money again.

ASPCA Pet Insurance is a disgrace. Corporate theft of innocent people. I racked up over $1500 of tests because my vet noticed he had an enlarged spleen. They refused to reimburse because previous symptoms were that "owner noticed he has always had a pale tongue"!

Avoid ASPCA at all costs. They will take your money and give nothing back when they should. Yes I will join any class action lawsuit against these criminals.

To be clear, they're actually through the Hartville group and not Hartford.

Goes to show how important it is to do your research ahead of time, eh?

:) I was skeptical about this company. My boxer came down with valley fever, pancreatitis, and now hypothyroidism. Long story short. I pay 60.00 a month for 2 boxers. The last 5 claims I submitted equaled $993.91. I have gotten $670.10 back. I lost about 120.00 in the reasonable costs area. 80% would have been $795.00 but I must say that I am happy to get back what I did. I am in the process of getting a fee schoadule from the company so that I will know what to expect.

Yes, I am having the same problem with the ASPCA ins co. I have the illness program and my dog was diagnosed with cancer. They are claiming it is pre existing condition. LOOKING for other complaint to file class action law suit against this co
